The Ironbark Station at Blackbutt is a 1400 hectare property located 170km north West of Brisbane. In 1994 the property was purchased for conservation by Steve Irwin (Crikey!) and Australia Zoo. The property is a designated wildlife sanctuary with a rehabilitation facility and a full-time wildlife rehabilitator for injured and orphaned Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, bettongs, pademelons, potoroos, possums, gliders, cockatoos and birds of prey.

We have a unique opportunity for up to 9 keen conservationists to join us from 30th September - 4th October to help us carry on Steve Irwin's legacy by restoring critical wildlife habitat through tree planting and weed removal, helping to expand sanctuary facilities and surveying wildlife/feral animals through sandplots and camera traps.

Volunteers will get an authentic Australian experience by camping on site in the bush and will develop practical conservation skills from experienced staff and team leaders.

Volunteers will meet at the CVA Office at 333 Bennetts Road, Morningside at 7:30am on Monday 30th September and be dropped back at the office by 4pm on Friday 4th October. CVA will provide all food, transport and accomodation (including tents) for the week. Volunteers will need to bring:

- a torch/headlamp

- pillow

- sleeping bag

- toiletries

- appropriate clothing for field work (long pants, long sleeved shirts, sturdy enclosed shoes, a hat and sunglasses)

Join us for this off the beaten track adventure and experience the magic of the Australian bush while making a meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation!
