We are engaging local businesses and community with the beautiful Weiti River – the aim is to connect locals with the important river that runs through their backyard.
The Weiti River plays a significant role as part of a network of streams that flow through the Hibiscus and Bays area of Auckland and out to Long Bay Okura Marine Reserve. Many areas along the Weiti River are affected by storm water run-off, as well as sedimentation and other pollutants which reduce the water's oxygen levels and the ability of the river to sustain life.
The aim of these projects is to restore the habitat and ecological values of the Weiti River. This winter, we aim to plant 1000 plants along the banks of the Weiti River. We'd love to have your help to restore this very special river.
