Truganini Conservation Area covers approximately 42 ha and contains several significant flora plant communities, including some listed on the regional forest agreement for protection. As a result, the conservation area is home to several threatened flora and fauna species and it also provides recreational access for the community. The reserve is a linkage to other forest communities and reserves, but also shares it boundaries to numerous private residences, and this has resulted in woody weeds. This project will provide an opportunity for volunteers from the Greater Hobart community and beyond, to help enhance the environmental and biodiversity values of Truganini Conservation Area. Volunteers will remove weeds over a period of several months, using best practice techniques, focusing on the areas within the reserve most at risk. They will also re-gravel tracks where necessary, with guidance from the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and their management plan for the reserve.
