Join us in this exciting project Where are You? Understanding Western Pygmy Possums Distribution funded through our partnership with Adelaide Mount Lofty Natural Resource Management Board
CVA and the community will be undertaking a montioring program to setup nesting boxes for Western Pygmy Possums across the southern Fleurieu Peninsula to help determine the unknown distrubution of these cute but cryptic little mammals.
This project will be a community Citizen Science Project based on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia which will focus on four key aims:
- Improve knowledge of preferred nest box placement to increase effectiveness of using boxes as a monitoring tool through community monitoring.
- Use nest boxes to determine local presence/absence and relative abundance of pygmy–possums.
- Increase public awareness of pygmy possum habitat in strategic locations.
- Propagation banksia, hakea, grevillea and melaleuca at Yankalilla Community nursery for revegetation at strategic locations
