Conservation Volunteers have decided to develop a volunteer garden at our Hobart volunteer house. The plan is to develop a number of edible gardens within the grounds that will be a focus site for volunteer engagement and management. This program will allow volunteers to gain new skills, try various growing techniques, provide assistance in the design and development stages, help with ongoing management of the gardens and be a part of the Conservation Volunteers community.
This project will involve;
- garden design and planning
- building raised garden beds
- fencing
- selection of various fruits, vegetables and other edible plants
- implementing various cultivation techniques
- pruning and weeding maintenance
- general garden maintenance
A great opportunity to be involved in an ongoing project that connects local volunteers, develops sustainable land-use skills and produces healthy, local food.
