The Swan River Estuary extends approximately 60km from Fremantle to Ellen Brook and 6km up the Canning River to Kent Street Weir. Three special A-Class Reserves have been established over recent years: Pelican Point, in Crawley, Milyu, adjacent to the Kwinana Freeway in South Perth and Alfred Cove, in Melville.
Conservation Volunteers will be working with SERAG to help restore one of these sites. The remnant vegetation provides habitat for local and migrating birds, some of which are either vulnerable or endangered, including the Splendid Fairy Wren and Osprey.
SERAG facilitate restoration projects through the contribution of volunteer work and the mobilization of other community resources to improve the habitats within these reserves.
