Creatures of the Night Spotlighting Tour @ Bartolo Reserve

Join us for an evening full of animal spotting fun at Bartolo Reserve as we take a guided walk to spot the unique wildlife of the critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland.

We’ll start the evening off with an introductory talk on the ecological importance of Bartolo Reserve and the species you might encounter, before heading off on a guided tour through habitat that supports the unique species of the Cumberland Plain Woodland.

Although Bartolo Reserve has become heavily degraded over time, due to invasion from exotic weed species and debris, our teams of volunteers have been working at this Reserve for over a year to try to restore the Reserve to its former glory. Over time, we have seen more and more native plant and animal species beginning to return to the site, including a mob of kangaroos, bearded dragons and bleating tree frogs. We have been lucky enough to spot a couple of Cumberland Plain Land Snails, an endangered species found in Western Sydney. However this has only been during the day!

We’d love to find out what incredible creatures come out at night! You will play an important part in helping us to understand the nightlife that exists in this incredible Reserve.

Meet at Penrith Station at 5:30pm or meet us on site at 6pm. Finish on site at 8pm, with a drop off to Penrith station at 8.15pm.

ESSENTIAL ITEMS: Please wear sturdy boots, long pants, a long sleeved shirt and dress warmly! The nights can get very chilly in Western Sydney! It’s a good idea to bring a bottle of water in case you get thirsty.
