Bottle Lake Forest, Rangers Office Waitikiri Drive
Departure time:
9:30am

Bottle Lake Forest is an extensive pine plantation that was once an important food-gathering area (mahinga kai) for the people of Ngai Tahu and their ancestors; they would gather eels (tuna) and other fish, and used native coastal plants for medicine, building materials, weaving, footwear and weapons

At Bottle Lake Forest, we assist rangers with a number of tasks, including weed control, track maintenance and rubbish removal from the estuary edge near the Waimakariri River mouth.

Come for part or all of the day and join our international volunteers! Tools and gloves supplied. Bring drinking water, lunch and snacks, and wear sturdy footwear.

Note: we can provide transport, but spaces are limited, so get in touch to book your seat!
