Join us on this Project to help save some of Victoria's most scenic beaches from invasive weed species.
The sand dunes around Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale consists of a variety of native plants, which help stabilise the sand dunes and keep them in place. However, weed invasion and misuse by people are rapidly contributing to erosion of the sand dunes.
Teams from Conservation Volunteers Australia are needed to help eradicate the invasie weeds, block tracks that people have made through the duens and encourage the regrowth of native plants. This really is volunteering with a view as you will be overlooking The Rip, watching ships go past and breathing in the fresh sea air as you learn new weed I.D. skills and improve the environment.
We will provide transport from South Geelong, departing at 8.15am and returning around 4pm. Volunteers need to bring their lunch and a bottle of water, as well as wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and boots or sturdy shoes. It is also recommended that volunteers bring and use a broad-brimmed hat, sun-screen (30+) and insect repellent.
