Richmond Community Gardens are one of thirty community gardens in Christchurch. Community Gardens are important places of social interaction in our community, as well as being places of learning about food growing and gathering. These gardens are on the edge of the red zone - a large area in the east of the city that is not able to be used for housing or industry after the 2011 earthquakes. They were revived in 2015, having been neglected after the earthquakes, growing to become one of the most vibrant community gardens in our city.
We’ll be helping with tasks related to the Community Gardens' native plantings or Fungi Farm.
Meet at the Community Garden base at Riverlution Ecohub, 46A Vogel St, Richmond at 9:30am.
Bring: Your own gardening gloves, sturdy boots or shoes, a water bottle and sunhat. Please wear long sleeves and trousers as protection from the sun and vegetation.
We’ll supply tools, but you are welcome to bring your own - hedge shears or flax knives are most useful.
We'd love to see you there, so please register below. Contact Donna (dlusby@cvnz.org.nz) 021 457 568 for more information.
