Leighton Beach is a critical coastal ecosystem for native reptiles and birdlife in the Fremantle area. Unfortnately, over the past few years this ecosystem has become severely degraded due to wind erosion and heavy pedestrian foot traffic through the dune system. In 2020 it is our goal to restore this section of the dune system by removing the invasive species which now dominate and revegetating the area with native coastal species to encourage regrowth of native habitat. This is a big job and we need your help to make this happen!

Keep an eye out on our website for microplastic surveys and beach cleanups which we will also be conducting at this site.
