The headwaters of Kororoit Creek rise in the hills northeast of Gisborne meandering down through Sunshine and to Altona. Like all waterways in cities, Kororoit Creek plays many roles - it helps to drain stormwater to prevent homes from flooding, provides habitat for local native flora and fauna and hosts a vast array of animal and bird life.

Melbourne Water, AMES and Conservation Volunteers Australia are working together to provide opportunities for new migrates within the Sunshine and the surrounding areas to learn about environmental conservation and river health. The program will aim to provide a number of benefits including improving the river health, upskilling new migrants and creating connections between the new migrants and local community members. This program is open exclusively to new migrates from AMES.
