CY O'Connor coastal reserve is a critical coastal ecosystem for bandicoots, reptiles and native birdlife. Unfortnately, over the past few years this ecosystem has become severely degraded due to wind erosion and heavy pedestrian foot traffic through the dune system. In 2020 it is our goal to restore this section of the dune system by removing the invasive species which now dominate and revegetating the area with native coastal species to encourage regrowth of native habitat. This is a big job and we need your help to make this happen!

In addition to weeding and planting events, the City of Cockburn are also hosting a community guided indigenous walk through the area on April 4th where community members can learn of the aboriginal significance of the site from Marissa Verma, founder of Bindi Bindi Dreaming - we would love to see you there!  More info on the Cockburn Council Website.
