Do your bit for the International Year of the Reef!
ReefBlitz is an annual event held in October that lets you contribute to a snapshot of catchment and reef health, and get involved in practical actions to help look after Queensland's reefs.
Concentrating on Citizen Science projects Conservation Volunteers is offering a number of opportunities to help look after the Reef. From clean ups and Creekwatch water monitoring events, to weeding and planting native plants there is something for everyone to get involved in.
Sunday 7th October from 9 to 11:30 am - Community Event: Taste of Creekwatch and Waterbug Blitz at Bohle Wetlands Reserve. The waterbugs present in a freshwater system can tell us a lot about its health, and healthy creeks are important to support healthy reefs. Come along to help us collect freshwater waterbugs using nets, then we will sort and identify them. There are lots of cool critters to discover!
Saturday 13th October from 9 to 11:00 am - Community Event: Clean Up at Rowes Bay beach. Come and help clean up the Rowes Bay beach foreshore, and the mouth of Mundy Creek, to protect marine wildlife from the harmful effects of marine debris. Bring your family and friends to this ReefBlitz 2018 community event for a great day out giving our environment a helping hand.
