This project will focus on the environmental issue of rubbish pollution in urban creek/rivers; plastics and other rubbish are pollutants that make it into our waterways and impact the health of an aquatic ecosystem. The waste that ends up in creeks and rivers eventually makes its way into oceans through tributaries and turns into Marine Debris. Each site will be assessed to see if there are hotspots of micro and macro plastics in urban aquatic systems.
The sites that will be assessed:
Glen Osmond Creek - Unley, Wayville and Plympton
First Creek - Adelaide Park Lands
Adelaide Park Lands - Greenhill Rd, Hutt St
River Torrens - Adelaide
Come and make a difference to our environment and learn about micro and macro plastics that make it into our waterways.
