Turrella Reserve is one of our newest projects which aims to increase the biodiversity of an urban wetland in Sydney’s South West and restore the important wildlife habitat corridor it runs along. While improving the health of the wetland, we will also be encouraging native species to return to the area and thrive.

The bushland within the park (Wolli Creek Regional Park) provides food, shelter, nesting sites and migration routes for more than 25% of the bird species recorded in NSW. It is also home to critical wetlands. We are encouraging everyone to have more awareness of the value wetlands provide to humanity and the importance of protecting them. In 2018 World Wetland Day has a focus on Sustainable Urban Futures, emphasising the critical role of wetlands in making cities liveable, Sydney included! Wetlands provide benefits such as; flood control, water supply, waste treatment, green space and livelihoods.

Accompanying your significant conservation activities, you will be taken on an interpretive walk to discover the hidden secrets of the wetlands. Along the way you will encounter a large Grey-headed Flying-fox colony under threat from the urbanisation of Sydney and you might even spot an Eastern Long-necked Turtle that lives in these waters.
