Port Kembla is a coastal community an hour and a half drive South of Sydney, or just 10 minutes South of Wollongong.  The industrial port in the North merges with a lively coastal community and the majestic white sand beaches stretching to the South.

Inhabiting industrial land, urban areas and the coastal fringe, the Green and Golden Bell Frog is under pressure from human impacts on the environment. However, we know there is a small but valuable population existing in Port Kembla. Through the use of citizen science and guided surveys we aim to get a better understanding of where frogs are in Port Kembla, what kind of habitat they are living in and how they are responding to changes in their enviornment.

Participating in this project will see a CVA Team Leader lead you in surveys across a number potential sites in Port Kembla, you will get an opportunity to understand how the Australian Museums Frog ID App works and also an understanding of the varied habitats.

Our day time surveys will include elements of habitat assessment, where we will collect information on plant species present and general habitat condition at these locations.

To participate in this project you need a keen eye, good ears, and if you want to bring along your own smart phone with the Frog ID App installed you can start to upload your own recordings!
