Nau mai haere mai, you're invited to plant a forest at the heart of Wellington. The Town Belt was once cleared of it's korowai (cloak) of native vegetation to make way for pine trees and grazing. We have partnered with Rotary and Wellington City Council to restore the Town Belt by planting 65,000 native trees which will create a home for native birds, insects and reptiles. Our aim is to connect rangitahi, local residents, visitors and businesses to nature by creating a forest right at the heart of our city for people and wildlife to enjoy. We would love to have your help!

Email wellington@cvnz.org.nz to register or book online.

What to wear/bring: sturdy boots or gumboots, long sleeves and pants, a hat/beanie, a drink bottle and some food.

What we provide: gloves, tools, high-vis vests, an experienced team leader, training. Get in touch to book a free ride from the Z station on Vivian Street.

He rau ringa e oti ai -by many hands the task is completed. This project is made possible by the Matariki Tu Rakau fund.

This planting site in Churton Park is an extension of the Outer Green Belt – an area protected for nature that will wrap around the entire city (joins up with the main Town Belt).
