Come and join us to support the lovely little Paekawakawa Reserve in Island Bay. Be part of restoring and enhancing a beautiful reserve, while enjoying the fresh summer air with great people! Conservation Volunteers is teaming up with the locals of Island Bay to support Paekawakawa Reserve; a section of land saved from development by the community and Island Bay Natural Heritage Charitable Trust.
This fun and rewarding opportunity will involve helping native plants and wildlife flourish by removing rubbish from the reserve. Historically, the reserve was used as a rubbish dumping area and every winter we pull tonnes of litter out of the earth. Help us remove this litter before it gets washed into our waterways and oceans.
What to wear/bring: sturdy boots essential, long sleeves and pants, a sun hat/beanie, waterproof jacket. Bring a reuseable water bottle and some snacks - there are some great spots for a picnic afterwards.
We provide: gloves, tools, sunscreen, training and an experienced team leader.
Mahi will take place from 10am-1:30pm, with a short break inbetween. The reserve is accessible by bus and there is ample street parking on Derwent Street.
To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org or book online.
He rau ringa e oti ai – By many hands the task is completed.
