Join us for a day helping the Stream Team, a group of parents who together, with the students and teachers of Owhiro Bay School are restoring their local stream. As the only daylighted stream on the south coast and one that empties into the Taputeranga Marine Reserve, it's a precious resource for the wider community as well. The area was at one time, entirely covered with blackberry vines and now, has a thriving native plant community.
Activities may vary but are likely to include: riparian planting (during winter), releasing and weeding the current plants, mulching, and possibly some litter collection.
We provide: an experienced team leader, tools, gloves, health and safety management and training.
What to wear/bring: sturdy boots, long sleeves and pants, a hat/beanie, waterproof jacket, a reuseable water bottle and some snacks.
Free transport to and from Wellington City is available (contact us to arrange a pick-up).
REGISTRATIONS ESSENTIAL AS PLACES ARE LIMITED.
Email wellington@cvnz.org.nz if you need help registering/booking with our projects.
