Today Conservation Volunteers will be assisting at Onkaparinga River Recreation Park with weed removal and habitat restoration. After the flooding in October 2016, large amounts of prickly pear were washed down the river and onto the banks. The team will be focusing on removing these broken prickly pear pieces from the site.
Experience the Onkaparinga Gorge's spectacular scenery and the contrasting wetlands which provide ideal breeding habitats for numerous fish and bird species. From the rugged gorge to the river plains, the parks provide a natural corridor for wildlife moving from the natural and recovering landscapes upriver to the wetland estuary, abundant in life. The changing environments along the river corridor are home to echidnas, kangaroos, and many bird and reptile species.
JULY 17th and 18th: We are pleased to announce that these two days are supported and sponsored by BORAL Connected Communities 2018
PLEASE NOTE: It is also possible to meet on-site if that is easier for you, but please contact the office so we can confirm the exact meeting location and time.
