Brettacorp – One Tree Matters
Thanks to the Community Sustainability Action Grant, Conservation Volunteers are joining with not-for-profit community group Brettacorp Inc. to undertake revegetation efforts on two prime areas of land situated in the heart of Cassowary Country, North Queensland.
The Southern Cassowary is listed as a nationally endangered, with less than 2200 individual birds believed to be left in the wild. By planting trees within this region of Tully, we will be increasing and connecting habitat for these special birds, as well as providing more available food resources.
Volunteers will be based on a site North of the Tully River, preparing and planting native trees that have been collected from local sources and propagated by local volunteers.
Accommodation will be camping for the week at the nearby picturesque Murray Falls, a large grassy area surrounded by rainforest, with two short walks nearby taking you to different sections of the falls.
