Nga Uruora – Kapiti Project is a community-based conservation project with a big work program and an even bigger vision. Set up in 1997 to reverse the drastic decline of coastal forest, their aim is to create a continuous ribbon of bird-safe native forest running from Pukerua Bay to Paekakariki.
The Paekakariki Escarpment is an exposed, steep coastal cliff and contains remnant and regenerating coastal forests, grey scrub, and flaxland. Join Conservation Volunteers NZ as we help Nga Uruora with a variety of tasks such as improving lizard habitat and track building.
We provide: an experienced team leader, tools, gloves, health and safety management, and training. Free transport available - get in touch to book a seat as places are limited!
What to wear/bring: sturdy boots, long sleeves and pants, a hat/beanie, waterproof jacket, water bottle, lunch and snacks.
So join us as we help to protect this stunning coastal landscape.
