Nga Manu Nature Reserve is a precious little piece of diverse ecosystem set within Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast. Peter McKenzie set up a trust to purchase and manage the reserve in the 1970's with the intention of restoring the native biodiversity and creating a safe-haven for rare species which would be easily accessible to members of the local community. Today the reserve is home to an impressive stand of native forest as well as many of New Zealand's rare and endangered species, all of which add to an amazing experience for all who visit the area. This week we're going to be getting started on helping NgÄ Manu staff with various jobs around the reserve. If you'd like to come and check out this amazing spot and get involved in a cool construction project then get in touch, we'd love to have your help!
