This project will provide volunteers with an opportunity to enhance Nurragingy Reserve, a vital open space resource. The provision of well-maintained open space and recreation areas is particularly important to the health and wellbeing of the community of Blacktown City. It provides an area for residents to connect with nature and each other and engenders community pride and awareness. The reserve boasts a variety of recreation opportunities, in a safe, attractive and accessible environment, whilst also holding significant natural and cultural values. In addition to this, Nurragingy Reserve is comprised of mostly remnant Cumberland Plain Woodland, which is listed as a Critically Endangered Ecological Community. This project will contribute to the protection and enhancement of this critical vegetation type along Eastern Creek within Nurragingy Reserve. The works will focus on the eradication of weeds including noxious, environmental and other exotic weed species.
