Come lend a hand (or two) as we make our way out to Makara Peak, a magnificent area full of beautiful natives and bird calls. Who wouldn’t love it!

The Makara Peak Supporters were established in 1998 to work in partnership with Wellington City Council to plan and develop a mountain bike park and restore native forest. Their aim is to create a world-class mountain bike park for all skill levels, in restored native forest. This land was once inhabited by Kiwi and the hope is one day there will be enough forest cover, and with predator eradication, kiwi will roam in the huge expansive forest once again.

What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots are essential, long sleeves, and long trousers. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a beanie/hat, jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. Bring a full water bottle and snacks!

What we provide: fully trained team leader/s, gloves, tools and training.

Free transport to and from Wellington City centre is available (contact us to arrange a pick-up).
