Hidden away between rolling green hills, craggy volcanic escarpments and magnificent views of nearby Mount Bunninyong, Narmbool encompasses a number of significant ecosystems including pasture and grazing land, native bush and various waterways.

Owned and operated by Sovereign Hill since 2000, Narmbool prides itself on educating sustainable farming in a diverse and fragile ecosystem.

First settled in 1839 Narmbool started out a reasonably small property at just 640 acres (1 square mile) and has slowly grown to a 2,000 hectare property of which 1,000 acres has been set aside for conservation.

Since 1980, Narmbool has seen a firm commitment to environmental issues, implementing a strong program of tree planting to reduce erosion, provide habitat for native animals and protection for livestock.

Carrying approximately 12,000 adult sheep, Narmbool’s dedication to sustainability in farming, as well as the protection of the environment means that the property is also home to koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidna, platypuses and numerous bird species.

Through the Australian Government 20 Million trees program, Narmbool has successfully acquired funding for another 20,000 plants to be implemented on the property.

Join us at this beautiful locality to help maintain the environmental integrity through such tasks as weed removal, site preparation and tree planting.
