Since 2005, the Butterfly Bushcare Group has been working on a hilltop site along Mt Coot-tha's Reservoir Trail to restore the natural vegetation to encourage butterflies and other insects, many of which are locally under threat due to urban development and loss of food plants for caterpillars. Loss of hilltop sites adds an addtional threat.
Butterflies including dainty swallowtails, tailed emperors and orchard swallowtails use the hilltop as a place to meet and find a mate with some butterflies travelingl several kilometres just to find a hilltop. Join CVA as we team up with the Butterfly Bushcare Group to plant butterfly host plants.
This project is a great way to network and gain hands on skills for a career in conservation while making a real difference to our environment.
If this project is fully booked but you are able to make your way to and from the project site we would love to have you on board, simply contact our Brisbane office via phone or email and we can manually add you on to the project.
