The Misty Mountain Wildlife Corridor features as one of the most important in the region of the Wet Tropics World Heritage area of Tropical North Queensland. It's High Altitude Rainforest habitat represents home for many Threatened Species, including the Southern Cassowary, Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo, various Possums, Quolls and three endangered stream-dwelling frogs.
To help keep this Refuge in pristine condition, volunteers will be undertaking assorted methods of weed management in various sections of the property, focusing on vulnerable edges of regenerating rainforest.
This is a week-long, residential project, departing on Monday morning and returning Friday afternoon.
Accommodation will be comforable camping at a nearby hut, sleeping in tents outside under the stars with the comfort of a fully functional kitchen, toilet and hot shower inside, courtesy of our project partners. There will be opportunity night-time Wildlife Spotting on both the Nature Refuge, as well as the nearby MtHypipamee National Park.
