Ko Matariki kei runga, ko te tohu tana o te tau! Matariki signals the Maori New Year. It is a time of renewal and celebration in New Zealand that begins with the rising of the Matariki star cluster (the Pleiades or Seven Sisters). Join us in celebration of Matariki and help to restore a native forest to the heart of Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington. The Forest at the Heart of Wellington is the biggest community-led tree planting project in Wellington. It involves volunteers from schools, communities and corporations in the planting of 65,000 native trees in the Wellington Town Belt.
Where: Charles Plimmer Park accessed via Palliser Road. Limited parking so walking or catching public transport to this site is best.
