CONSERVATION IMPACT
Over 30% of Australia's mammals and around 14% of birds are threatened or extinct in the wild. In the Little Desert region, Conservation Volunteers and the FAUNA Research Alliance are 'Rewilding the Desert' - restoring wildlife habitat, protecting threatened species and reintroduc ing wildlife bac into wild. This tour supports the Rewilding the Desert initiative.
TRAVEL
CVA arranged vehicle from Melbourne city to Little Desert, and return.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Depart Melbourne for Little Desert National Park. Travel through the Greater Grampians region visiting Mount Arapiles. Arrive at the Little Desert Lodge in afternoon, leisurely one-hour walk on our private conservation reserve. Dinner, and nocturnal wildlife tour - see kangaroos, bettongs, bandicoots, sugar gliders and more. (LD)
Day2: Early start with a full-day guided walk through the Little Desert National Park. The walk will take you to Trig Pint that has a view overlooking the surrounding desert landscapes. Walk through the home of so many flora and fauna. Spot amazing wildlife on your side. Return back tp the lodge, relax before dinner. (BLD)
Day 3: Visit the Mallee Fowl Sanctuary, discover the Lodge's Mallee Fowl recovery program and possibly catch a glimpse of these fascinating endangered mount building birds. Lunch and return hourney back to Melbourne. On route we stop at the Pink Lake. (BL)
