Located near the upper tributaries of the Porirua Stream, Lakewood Reserve has undergone a radical transformation by the Churton Park Revegetation Group. Since 2004, over 12000 native plants have been planted, and the habitat has changed from mainly exotic species into a healthy native riparian environment.
We’d love to have your help maintaining this site by releasing some plantings from previous years. We may also be removing some more robust invasive species to make way for more native trees this coming winter.
What to bring/wear: sturdy boots, long sleeves and pants, waterproof jacket essential. Layering and wearing a hat or beanie is a good way to stay warm. Bring a water bottle and some food.
What we provide: all tools and gloves provided as well as training and an experienced team leader. Free transport options available - get in touch to book a seat as places are limited.
