Join us for a day of coastal conservation as we remove weed species along Wellington's south coast, such as karo and osteospermum, before they produce seeds and spread. This is one of our most popular projects- book a spot before they fill up!

Coastal dunes are home to a range of native animals, including 4 species of native lizard: common gecko, the common skink, the spotted skink, and the copper skink. The katipo spider was once widespread in coastal dunes along the Wellington coastline but is now a nationally threatened species.

Dunelands close to settlements are vulnerable and impacted from many things including erosion and by invasive weeds, which de-stabilise the sand, and displaces native species such as pingao and spinifex/kawhangatara.

What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots are essential, please bring eye protection/glasses, long sleeves, and long trousers. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a jacket, beanie, jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. Bring a full water bottle and snacks!

What we provide: fully trained team leader/s, gloves, tools and training.

Free transport to and from Wellington City is available (contact us to arrange a pick-up).
