Wairarapa Stream is one of many urban streams throughout Christchurch that has suffered degradation as a result of urbanisation. CVNZ Christchurch is working alongside the City Council, local schools, businesses and residents to improve the mauri (health) of this waterway. When it is healthy, Wairarapa Stream will be home to tuna (longfin eel), invertebrates and a host of other critters. In 2019 we planted over 2000 plants along the banks of the Stream that with your help we'll continue to look after.
The working bee will be from 9:30am-12:30pm, but feel free to come along for as long as you'd like!
Tasks include: releasing and mulching.
Gloves, tools and morning tea will be provided. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear and a sunhat. We recommend long sleeves and trousers as protection from the sun.
We'd love to see you there, so please register below. Contact Donna (dlusby@cvnz.org.nz) 021 457 568 for more information.
