Wairarapa Stream is one of many urban streams throughout Christchurch that has suffered degradation as a result of urbanisation. CVNZ Christchurch is working alongside the City Council, local schools, businesses and residents to improve the mauri (health) of this waterway. When it is healthy, Wairarapa Stream will be home to tuna (longfin eel), invertebrates and a host of other critters. In 2019 we planted over 2000 plants along the banks of the Stream that with your help we'll continue to look after.
Tasks include: releasing, mulching and planting (winter).
Tools and gloves supplied. Bring drinking water, lunch and snacks, and wear sturdy footwear.
Please contact us to book a place. Email email@example.com or register below.
During Level 2 we will resume volunteer work following the advice from government and local council on all Covid-19 restrictions.
We will limit numbers as per the government restrictions, therefore bookings are essential. On site we will work with a minimum of 1m social distancing, there will be no sharing of tools or shared food/drinks. We are required to keep a record of your contact details for contact tracing. If you have any concerns about Covid-19 procedures, please get in touch.
