Ingham and Conservation Volunteers are teaming up both here in NZ and across the ditch on an exciting programme to Revive Our Wetlands.
This project will assist the Ngati Haua Mahi Trust in a bold undertaking to restore 3km of riparian zone of the Topehaehae Stream. The restoration site is located at the eastern end of Tahuroa Road and runs north towards Morrinsville and is surrounded by dairy support blocks. Invasive weeds will be removed, fencing installed and thousands of plants planted over the next 3 years. This important mahi will help to control erosion, filter sediment and nutrients before they enter the stream and provide a much-improved habitat for native fish, invertebrates, birds and reptiles.
