In Canberra we are very lucky to have nature right on our backdoor step. In order to keep this, we need to balance safety and care for the environment, this is where an Asset Protection Zone (APZ) comes in.
These zones help us to maintain our connection with the environment whilst protecting those communities from any fire hazards that may arise. It is important that these are created before the heat of summer and our highest fire risks occur.
To help care for the community and our native biodiversity on Mount Jerrabomberra we will be removing any fire fuel such as litter, branches and weeds in a zone between houses and the reserve.
What you can expect:
-Being out in nature with nice people
-Helping communities stay safer
-Helping firefighters have a safe area to work in
-Removing fire fuel through raking litter and removing weeds/branches
-Spending time in the beautiful Mount Jerrabomberra reserve
-Recognition of your efforts
