Although most people wouldn’t identify as a carer, more than 1 in 10 NSW residents actually are!

We’re all familiar with paid Carers, who look after people with a mental illness, disability or chronic illness on a full time basis… However, every day, people care for their family members or friends. Do you visit an elderly relative? Or support a friend through a rough emotional time? Offering someone a helping hand or a listening ear all counts as being a carer.

So whether you’re a paid carer, unpaid carer, or just provide care and support to your friends and family, it is important for you to take some time out to look after your own wellbeing.

Join us to unwind and de-stress at Green Gym!

Green Gym, or Wellbeing in Nature, is a welcoming and flexible program to help you connect with others while taking care of your physical and mental health. Set beside the tranquil Auburn Botanic Gardens in the Cumberland Council Nursery, you will spend the day growing seedlings, tending to garden beds and learning about gardens and plant care.

Situated in the middle of the bustling Western Sydney suburb of Auburn this small green oasis beside Duck River is popular with locals and visitors alike. You will meet other carers, become a friend of the Award Winning Auburn Botanic Gardens, and have an opportunity to focus on your own health.

There will be plenty of cups of tea and coffee and the venue is well shaded covered with close access to bathrooms.

With peacocks wandering freely around the site you will get to spend a few hours each week in a small urban sanctuary with a background of birdsong as you enjoy a morning or afternoon in the famous Japanese Gardens or under shelters in the community nursery.
