Conservation issues are still hotly contended despite being validated by robust scientific evidence. Very little is taught in Australian schools about conservation and the environment, yet it is these young school students who will ultimately inherit the world as well as the many environmental issues that it is faced with.
Partnering with Springwood State High School, Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) will use this grant to work with high school students to foster an appreciation of nature through tree planting and weed removal activities. The aim of this project is to involve young people in a community led conservation project that will improve mental and physical health as well as the health of the environment by regenerating bush and monitoring wildlife around Springwood State High School.
CVA would like to thank Logan City Council for funding this project and for their ongoing committment to conservation projects across Brisbane.
Remember to wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, enclosed shoes, a hat, sunglasses and please bring your lunch and plenty of water.
CVA Brisbane now has a scheme ID with Containers for Change QLD! You can choose to donate to CVA directly via our scheme ID C10181048 when returning containers at any refund point or you can leave your empties at our office at 333 Bennetts Road, Morningside and we will take them in for you!
