A wonderful opportunity to join a team of volunteers on the breathtaking and secluded Hinchinbrook Island.  Volunteers will walk the Thorsborne Track clearing the path and identifying issues requiring attention prior to the walking season.  The National Park Rangers will accompany the CVA volunteers for the duration.

This is hard-core bush walking in and out and would require a good level of fitness plus lightweight gear.  If you don't have your own equipment, for an additional fee CVA can arrange a light weight pack for your use.  Numbers will be limited to a team of 6 volunteers.  This project would suit experienced bush walkers and adverture types as the camping will be rustic in very remote areas.

The team will meet at the CVA office at 6am departing at 6.30am to in Cardwell to prepare and be ready to transfer by boat to Hinchinbrook Island 10am Tuesday 7th April.  Please note that the teams return may be delayed by bad weather and tides so a return time can not be guaranteed.

Hinchinbrook Island is located off the Queensland Coast near Cardwell, between Townsville and Cairns.  Access to the Island is by boat and visitation numbers are limited.  Some areas are extremely rugged and dangerous and use of the Thorsborne Trail requires permission in advance.

The Island is surround by marine park waters and its seagrass beds are home to vulnerable species, including dugongs and green turtles.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of Australia's largest island with an organised group to experience the beauties of this protected island.
