The Forest at the Heart of Wellington is the biggest community-led tree planting project in Wellington. It involves volunteers from schools, communities and corporations in the planting of 65,000 native trees in the Wellington Town Belt. The aim of this project is to create a greener, healthier environment within the city and to show-case to the nation how humans and nature can thrive in the same place. This project is in partnership with Rotary Club of Wellington, Wellington City Council and supported by the MPI Matariki Tu Rakau fund.
Tree planting happens in winter (end May - early September) each year. Our volunteer days are a great way to enjoy the outdoors, to meet people and to help care for the environment. So join us at one (or more) of our weekend planting dates this year!

When: 9:30 - 1:30 Saturdays and/or Sundays from May through to September. See a list of dates available for booking below.
We provide: an experienced team leader, tools, gloves, health and safety management and training.
