The foreshore areas of the City of South Perth are adjacent to the Swan and Canning Rivers and are important ecological corridors aiding the movement of fauna from inland reserves to and from the river system. South Perth contains the most extensive wetlands in the lower reaches of the Swan and Canning Rivers, with foreshore vegetation that is not found anywhere else along these rivers. The area provides habitat for over 74 species of land and water birds, including 14 significant bird species, 12 reptiles and 6 amphibian species.

Join our volunteers in removing invasive plant species to improve the growth of native vegetation. Volunteers will also be planting new vegetation to stabilise the river banks and prevent erosion. We will be returning to each of these sites over the next three years, allowing our volunteer teams to see the impact and transformation of their efforts.
