The Ferrymead Heathcote Saltmarsh is a project of the Opawaho Heathcote River Network (OHRN); this committed group of locals is working on restoration of the saltmarsh at Tunnel Road Reserve.

This area is Christchurch City Council land and was disturbed and partially filled during the construction of the Tunnel Road motorway. CCC is restoring the site by allowing the high tide to gently inundate this area and re-establish the original saltmarsh.

Come and help us as we work alongside volunteers from the OHRN on this exciting restoration project. We'll be releasing plants and spreading mulch to suppress weeds.

Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Location: Meet just after the bridge from the Ferry Rd roundabout on the side of Tunnel Rd.

Bring: Your own gardening gloves, sturdy boots or shoes, a water bottle and sunhat. As part of our health and safety requirements, CVNZ requires volunteers to wear long sleeves and trousers as protection from the sun and vegetation.

We’ll supply tools, but you are welcome to bring your own - hedge shears or flax knives are most useful.

We'd love to see you there, so please register below. Contact Donna (dlusby@cvnz.org.nz) 021 457 568 for more information.
