As part of this year's Reef Blitz, Conservation Volunteers Cairns are undertaking a beach clean-up and marine debris survey in a new spot - Etty Bay, just outside of Innisfail and home to some beautiful cassowaries.
Volunteers will end to each end of the beach and work their way towards the middle collecting rubbish and debris found both along the beach and through the brodering vegetation and rocks along the edges. We will then sort through and record what we find to be placed into the Australian Marine Debris Database.
It is a popular spot for Cassowary sightings and we may be able to see one along the beach during the clean-up!
A light lunch will be provided.
Transport will be provided for volunteers from Cairns and Innisfail - BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL.
