Conservation Volunteers is very excited to be working with key partners including NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Tweed Shire Council and Friends of the Koala on the important task of protecting the Koala population on the Tweed Coast.

A recent study by Tweed Shire Council (December 2015) indicated that the small population of Koalas on the Tweed Coast is continuing to decline and could be lost within the next 20 years unless ongoing action is taken. It is hoped that crucial habitat protection and restoration activities can stop the demise of this iconic species and secure the Tweed Coast Koala population for future generations.

This collaborative project will plant 3000 native trees in Cudgen Nature Reserve and repair over 4 haectares of Koala habitat through removal of threatening weed species. The local community is invited to help with this important task and we are offering the opportunity to learn more about the iconic Koalas on the Tweed Coast and to be a part of this vital effort to save them.
