Did you know that the home range of a wombat is just under 25ha? Or that Powerful Owls require up to 4,000ha of high-quality habitat per breeding pair? These numbers are large, much larger than we might imagine are needed for some our native wildlife to survive and thrive. Our Green Links projects address this need by extending, reconnecting and recreating large areas of bushland habitat for a range of animals – and for plants too, that need places for their seed to spread and establish.
The City of Melville manages an 18km foreshore area that is defined by a narrow chain of reserves and natural vegetation. There are also some beautiful bushland reserves away from the river that provide wonderful opportunities to spot wildflowers and enjoy a touch of serenity within the suburbs.
Join our volunteers to assist in removing invasive weed species that threaten the biological diversity, particularly the wildflowers, at various parks and foreshore locations. Plantings will also be undertaken to restore native vegetation in these areas.
(If project is fully booked online call our Perth office on 9335 2777 and one of our friendly staff will help you book onto the project)
