This rewarding turtle conservation project is located in the breathtaking natural surrounds of Western Australia’s Kimberley Coast.

The northern Australian coastline provides an excellent nesting ground for turtles. Flatbacks are the only marine turtle species that is endemic to Australian waters, but much remains unknown about them. Returning to the exact beach at which they were hatched, flatback turtles return to Eco Beach during November – December to nest.

Join us for one or two weeks to discover the remarkable and untouched Kimberley Coast.  Experience insights into the nesting turtle populations at Eco Beach. Enjoy close encounters with flatback turtles and contribute through citizen science to our long term research project, recording data on nesting activities. Each morning we will undertake early morning beach patrols looking for new turtle nests and tracks. Then in the evenings a beach walk will occur to search for nesting flatback turtles.

We will be staying in share accommodation at the stunning and environmentally friendly Eco Beach Resort with plenty of time to enjoy northern Australia’s beautiful coastal scenery and the fantastic resort facilities. This is a truly remarkable experience and a rare opportunity to connect with our natural world.

A volunteer contribution of $699 covers all food, accommodation and transport to and from the Broome Visitors Centre. Book onto either week 1 or week 2 online using the booking links below.

We are also offering a discounted price of $1298 for volunteers attending for the full two weeks (21st Nov - 5th Dec). Please contact the perth office at perth@cva.org.au  or 9335 2777 to make this booking.

You will be required to cover the costs of your transportation to Broome - please ensure that if you are flying into Broome that you arrive at the visitors centre before 1pm and that your departing flights leave after 1pm.
