The endangered Eastern Curlew is the largest migratory wader that visits Australia. These amazing birds migrate all the way to the Arctic Circle in order to breed and can be seen in Japan, Korea and Borneo as they journey to these breeding grounds. In South East Queensland they can be found from October - March on intertidal mud/sandflats as well as mangrove swamps and estuaries.

Come and join the team on the idyllic Curlew Island as we remove invasive weeds to improve important habitat areas for these birds. This beautiful site is a short boat ride from Labrador Boat Ramp at the Gold Coast and is a very popular  location for Eastern Curlews during their summer visits.

This is a great opportunity to learn about an endangered species that lives in our own backyard as well as gain practical hands on skills in conservation. No prior experience is necessary, our friendly team leaders will teach you everything that you need to know on the day!
