Come and join the ninth annual Darwin Harbour Clean Up (DHCU). The event raises awareness about the sources of rubbish entering our oceans and encourages everyone to 'bin it or take it with you'. This year's focus is on single-use plastics and their impacts on our oceans and marine life. Come for a morning walk along the Nightcliff Foreshore and beach, and do your bit to clean up our oceans, then come and have a look at all we've collected and enjoy a free lunch.
7:50am: Meet at the Darwin Office if you would like a lift to Nightcliff
8:30-11am: Beach clean-up from Nightcliff Jetty, along the foreshore, along Nightcliff Beach, ending up at Rapid Creek Footbridge (if time allows)
11am: Make your own way or get a lift to the sorting and recording site at Fisherman's Wharf on the rock wall side (or we can drop you off at the Darwin Office on the way if you don't wish to participate further) to have a look at the accumulative impact of our clean-up efforts
12noon: Free lunch for all our helpers!
***Please wear closed-in shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants and bring a hat and waterbottle. We will provide gloves, rubbish bags, and cold water refills***
