Coranderrk Bushland Reserve is a unique forested area in Healesville, known for its native vegetation, diverse flora and fauna and rich culture.

Set over 142 hectares and nestled close to Healesville Sanctuary, Coranderrk Bushland Reserve is managed by Zoos Victoria who have a vision of restoring an ecological balance to the bush land and protecting the 264 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, frogs and fish that live within the reserve.

The majority of the vegetation at Coranderrk Bushland Reserve is bush. Due to encroachment by modern advancements in the area, public access to the reserve is strictly prohibited. This project is a great opportunity to work in this protected area and make a significant difference to the environment.

We aim to contribute to the restoration of Barak Creek floodplain to create habitat for the federally EPBC listed Helmeted Honeyeater and Leadbeater's Possum. This restoration is part of the state-level Threatened Species Recovery Programs for these two species. The Coranderrk Bushland Reserve is also a part of the proposed wider Yellingbo Conservation Area.

The project activities include follow up works on previously revegetated areas, primarily the removal of tree guards from mature eucalypts, paperbarks and tea tree.
