The Island is a formerly degraded agricultural site, spanning 234 Hectares adjacent to Werribee Gorge State Park. It was donated to CVA in 2006 and our goal is to reinvigorate the landscape to have improved biodiversity and habitat values.
Over 10 years The Island site has seen large numbers of volunteers, students, corporate partners and staff dig in and help, rain hail or shine, to achieve this milestone through their hard work and dedication to plant natives trees and shrubs.
Join us for site preparation and follow up tree planting (beginning approx April 2017) at The W. James Whyte Island Reserve ('The Island') in Bacchus Marsh. This is part of a FederaL Government grant we recieved to plant 20,000 trees at The Island.
We will provide transport from South Geelong each day, departing at 8.15am and returning around 4pm. Or if you live local you can meet on-site by prior arrangement.
